Unites State of America
Wine is produced throughout the whole USA. However few regions are more known, for example California with Napa Valley, Oregon, Washington State and New York State,
USA's GI system is based on the American Viticultural Area (AVA). There are federal laws specifying the minimum percentages of grapes that must come from a single grape variety, vintage or AVA to allow these terms to appear on the label. Not all wines qualify for an AVA. For these wines the name of a state, such as California, or county such as Napa County, may appear on the label. Most of South Africa's wine regions are found on and around the coastline of the Cape where they can have the advantage of the cooling influences of the Ocean.
