At the foot of the beautiful old castle Citeaux are the vineyards of the Bouzereau family, in the heart of the village of Meursault. Viticulture and winemaking has been a true family tradition for nine generations. Since 2006, Philippe Bouzereau has been in charge of this wine estate, which he manages with passion. His expertise and passion are reflected in the development of great Burgundy wines. From Aloxe Corton in the north of Burgundy to Santenay in the south, passing through Beaune, Auxey-Duresses, Meursault and Chassagne-Montrachet, the many small parcels of Domaine du Château de Citeaux are the mosaic of their wines. With almost 18 hectares of vineyards classified as Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée, the wine estate covers five villages in production and gives the Bouzereau family the opportunity to produce 20 Crus from the traditional grape varieties Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, each with its own special style. The diverse terroirs are the signature of the uniqueness of each of the wines. Aware of their wealth of unique soil, the family tries to limit mechanical and chemical intervention as much as possible in order to preserve the character of each plot and the grape variety grown. By only using organic fertilizer and compost, the grapes retain their good quality. Even plowing and harvesting the
vines is traditionally done by hand.
